Semapen's programmes are designed for people with a BMI of 30 or more. However, this threshold can be lower (as low as 25.5) for people of certain high-risk ethnic backgrounds and those with weight-related health conditions.
It's easy to check your BMI using our simple calculator. It only takes a minute.
2. Take your quick digital consultation
We need to ask a few questions to make sure it's safe and appropriate for you to join our programmes. You complete these a simple online questionnaire. For most people, it takes about six minutes, and you'll find out instantly if you're eligible.
3. Choose your programme and care plan
We review your responses and recommend the best treatment programmes for you. You can choose whichever you think is best. You'll also choose a care plan, depending on the level of support you need.
4. Pay for your first month
You're nearly there. Now it's time to pay for your first month of support using our secure payment portal. We'll take payment for each subsequent month on the same day each month.
5. Join your welcome call
Welcome to the Semapen community. We'll arrange a 45-minute welcome video call at your convenience. This is to explain more about our programmes and give you the chance to ask questions. Make sure you have your ID or passport ready for verification.
6. Discreet delivery

Our digital consultation is designed by doctors in the UK and lets you know instantly if you're eligible for treatment. We'll ask questions about your medical history, lifestyle, weight and other relevant topics. This is to make sure it's safe and appropriate for you to take the medication.
What does the SemaPen programme involve?
The SemaPen weight loss medication programme is designed by some of the UK's most trusted weight loss experts. This means you can expect truly tailored support founded on 20+ years of obesity treatment experience. You can also find diet and lifestyle advice in the exclusive Semapen app.
Our service works as a simple subscription. This means each dose will arrive automatically. We handle the medical side of things so you can focus on your weight loss goals.
Who can join the SemaPen programme?
Weight loss injections are licensed in the UK for the treatment of obesity. If a person is obese, it means they have a BMI of 30 or greater.
However, having a high BMI doesn't automatically make you eligible. In your digital consultation, we'll look at your medical history and make a decision on a case-by-case basis.
In some cases, people can join the programme with a lower BMI (as low as 25.5). In other cases, the treatment simply wouldn't be suitable.
Do weight loss drugs cause side effects?
Like all medications, weight loss injections can cause side effects. The most common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and stomach pain. However, these are typically mild and often go away as you continue treatment. Serious side effects are rare.
How long does it take to see results?
Many patients start noticing results after two or three months. However, healthy weight loss takes time – even with help from weight loss medications. To lose and sustain a significant amount of weight, we recommend that patients continue taking the treatments for at least 12 months.
Do I need a smartphone?
Yes. We deliver our support remotely using the Semapen app. You'll need an Android smartphone or tablet, an iPhone or an iPad to use the app features and stay in touch with our team.
